Scalpal is a surgical practice app for Meta Quest 3S, built at MHacks 2026. You interview a synthetic patient, figure out what’s wrong, then walk into an operating room and do the surgery yourself, with Scalpal coaching you by voice the whole way. When you’re done, your recorded motion drives a simulated robot hand. The longer-term idea is that people practicing surgery can produce useful demonstrations for robots. The demo proves a smaller chain: one guided procedure, feedback on it, and one replay of the recorded motion on a simulated robot hand. The replay is a replay. It isn’t a learned robot policy.
Scalpal is an illustrative simulator for practice and demos. It is not clinical guidance and it doesn’t measure surgical competence.
